From Dena Robinson, J.D., If/When/How Board President, on behalf of the Board of Directors:

With the deepest gratitude for her service, the If/When/How Board of Directors announces the upcoming departure of Executive Director Sabrina Andrus at the end of 2018.

During her more than eight-year tenure, Sabrina brilliantly led the organization through a rebrand, solidified If/When/How as a reproductive justice organization dedicated to working with an expressly anti-racist lens, doubled If/When/How’s budget, and expanded the organization’s work through the Reproductive Justice Fellowship Program and Judicial Bypass Project, to name just a few of her many accomplishments.

It goes without saying — but we’ll say it anyway — that Sabrina will forever be a member of the If/When/How family.

Sabrina will continue to serve as a source of inspiration and mentorship for law students and lawyers working for reproductive justice, and her legacy as a powerfully compassionate, supportive, and creative leader will remain at the heart of If/When/How’s programs and operations going forward.

At If/When/How, we believe that reproductive justice doesn’t just happen, which is why we strive for a new world and future where everyone can determine if, when, and how they will create and sustain their families. With that in mind, we wholeheartedly support Sabrina’s decision to step back from the organization in order to focus on supporting her own family, and to start a new and exciting career in her hometown. This is what If/When/How is all about.

If/When/How’s staff, Fellows, and Board members appreciate Sabrina’s hard work and leadership — and her exceptional group selfie skills.

We look forward to sending Sabrina off in style as only If/When/How can, so stay tuned for details on her farewell fête. In the meantime, Sabrina will continue to lead our dynamic team through the end of the calendar year, and we will be announcing exciting new plans for the future — and our new leadership — in the new year!

We are thrilled that Sabrina has named If/When/How’s (now-former) Director of Programs Mariko Miki as If/When/How’s Deputy Director, beginning today. Mariko started at If/When/How on the same day as Sabrina, and she is the architect of If/When/How’s one-of-a-kind Reproductive Justice Fellowship Program. We are not only extremely confident in Mariko’s leadership during this time of transition, but through our next chapter.

Please join us in thanking Sabrina for her service to this incredible organization. She is an intentional, thoughtful, and visionary leader in the reproductive justice movement, and with her leadership, If/When/How has grown to become the powerhouse it is today. We are tremendously grateful for Sabrina’s years at the helm, and wish her all the best as she returns to her roots.
